Four years ago Chase Declan left behind his father and sister and joined the military at the age of 17, now he is coming home and expecting to see the same happy sister and forgiving father; but he's thrown off the edge when he finds out that his sister has been battling cancer for the last three years. In comes Jamie Novell, an 18 year old waitress trying to support herself and her mother all while comforting and helping the Declan household. Chase is immediately intrigued and attracted to her caring personality and tries his best to win her over and heal past wounds with his family. But there's only so much you can do with such little time, and when lives come to an end; can you stay sane?

I had to admit, he was cute. His eyes sparkled nervously and his lips were a lovely shade of natural red. He had his arms crossed over his chest, a gesture that could possibly get him knocked out in this place. He looked as though he could fake a tough guy but at heart he was gentle. I had good instincts and they were screaming to steer clear of this guy. Why? Because he would break my heart. Why is that all the best relationships happen at the strangest of times? Laurel meets Trey inside of a Juvenile Detention Centre and the two of them become closer than anything. For Laurel, Trey was the first friend in her life. But for Trey, he intended for Laurel to be his last. Trey is heartbroken when Laurel leaves the Centre and moves away from town, never to see him again. Laurel has runaway from her foster parents, changed her name and even the colour of her hair. She's created a whole new persona for herself and never wants to revisit the past, but what happens when the most unlikely thing happens? What happens when Trey moves in just around the corner?
