Sam Kinney never believed the lies that have been shoved down her throat.

The night is dangerous, the night is dangerous.

The night is when the Darkness comes out.

Every night once the sun begins to set, the people are herded back into their homes, and all doors and windows are automatically locked tight so no one can leave.

But every night since she was twelve, Sam props her bedroom window open, and slip out into the night.

Noah Hansen does the same thing, and waits for her at the lake in the forest every night.

Undisturbed, and finally alone.

Until one night, the Darkness reveals itself.
