It is the year 2461. 18 years earlier, the president of the US turned himself into a dictator, and took over Canada, where Avery Remington and her family lives. Right after she was born, a rebellion broke out. Problem is, people were afraid of him, so instead of fighting against him, people fought for him. 15 years later, people are still fighting for him, and against him. Jack Remington, Avery's dad, was one of the ones fighting against him. When she was 10, she started having nightmares of her and her dad. She was on one side of a field, and he was one the other. She ran towards him, but right before she got to him, he disappeared into thin air, and she woke up. Come to find out, her father had died in an explosion just days before her first nightmare. It was almost like she could sense it. Her twin brother, Caleb, always promised to protect her, and he still is, fighting in the battles, just like their father. Lately though, she's been having those same dreams, except now, it's not Dad. It's Caleb.

A Different Virus - Laura's Story, écrit par CrystalScherer

This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original. The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. A huge thanks to her! Copyright September 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story. Maxine is an 18-year-old girl who is bored and lonely, living in California in the year 2351. She's always been fascinated with how humans used to live in houses, drive cars, and the fact that there used to be forests and parks everywhere. Now, after a war that nearly erased humanity, people are forced to live a strict, dull, communist lifestyle. Everyone seems okay with this way of life. Everyone except Maxine. Maxine had always been special; she was often able to predict events. How? She didn't exactly know...yet. When she starts having dreams about a tropical island where people live as they did in the 21st century, she meets the man of her dreams: literally. Her new boiling emotions bring her to wonder...what if it's a real place? When she starts her search for the island and bumps into Elis-the man in her dreams-she suddenly knows it wasn't all just a making of her imagination. Finding that island could mean finding the answers to her burning questions, and maybe even answers to questions she didn't know she had. However, not everything is what she thought it would be when she finally finds the island, and her dreams become a harsh reality. Elis turns out to be someone else, and when another man swoops in every time Maxine is in danger, she becomes confused about what love really is. The Advisors, the ten women governing the world, want to assimilate the people of the island, not knowing that those people have an extreme advantage over them. Maxine also learns that her family has been lying to her about who she really is. Ultimately, when the Advisors come to destroy the island, she must face the fact that she is the key to the island's salvation, and embracing her rapidly developing abilities is the only way to do so.

In a world where survival is a privilege and freedom is a myth, Victoria Kines is more than just another prisoner-she's an anomaly. Born with an ability no one understands, she has spent years locked away by the Dominion, their cruel experiments breaking her body but never her mind. Yet, her greatest secret isn't her power. It's the child in her arms-the only thing keeping her from losing herself completely. But the Dominion doesn't plan to keep her caged forever. When Kade Mercer, a ruthless officer with abilities of his own, is tasked with controlling her, their fates become dangerously intertwined. Kade has spent his life following orders, absorbing power, and playing the perfect soldier. But Victoria is different. She defies him. Challenges him. And in the quiet moments between war and destruction, she makes him question everything. As rebellion rises and the Dominion tightens its grip, Victoria must make an impossible choice-become the weapon they want her to be, or risk everything to escape. But in a world built on power and control, love might be the most dangerous thing of all. Because even broken things can still burn.
