The ancient Greeks believed in the idea of soul mates. The once complete beings were split down the middle, creating two halves of a whole. From then on, the halves spent their life time in search for their other part. Markers are similar to this idea of the Greeks in that they spend their lives searching for their other half. Markers, though, are easier to find; all you have to do is right on the back of your hand. *I am horrible at giving descriptions!

Palm marks were the most common- everyone knew that. And almost always the result of carelessly accidental contact. It was the entire reason clans like the Uchiha had developed their first meeting rituals the way they had- to provide definitive, immediate proof of a match without the tediousness of thoughtless touches muddying the waters. As much as Sasuke genuinely had no interest in whoever was unlucky enough to bear his mark's match, he can't help but resent the mark itself. Because there was a distinctive, insistent part of him that knew the universe was wrong. Occam's Razor /ˌäkəmz ˈrāzər/ noun A philosophical principle generally understood to be that with competing theories or interpretations, the least complex is to be preferred. or, the simplest explanation is usually the best one.
