A modern retelling of Cinderella
After seventeen years of living under her parents' strict rule and being the perfect, obedient daughter, Cynthia's friends convince her to sneak out for one night of fun. But when she meets a charming stranger at the party, her life is turned on it's head as her eyes are opened to the joys of youth. Now, with her parents enraged over a lost phone and no idea who her mystery man is, how will she ever be able to reclaim that glimpse of happiness?
[This was originally written for the Once Upon Now contest. I wasn't able to finish on time to enter the competition, but I still wanted to complete and share it with you.]

Feet Aren't Made for Walking will be renamed Truth Be Told and will be published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster, on October 11, 2016 in the Once Upon Now Anthology! ---------------------------- Leo Clark is having a really bad day. He's been transported into a topsy-turvy alternate universe (not a good thing when your mom's expecting you home for dinner), he's recently acquired wooden extremities and is physically incapable of telling a lie (an even worse thing when you pride yourself on not sharing your emotions), and his little sister has been kidnapped, mistaken for the lost princess of the Land of Pittsborough (the worst thing of all because...please refer back to the part about Mom making dinner). In order to save his sister and find a way home, Leo will have to confront an evil queen who lives in an office cubicle, a few mice with horrible fashion sense, and a girl with green skin and webbed toes (but hey, at least she's kind of cute). And he'll have to do it all before the clock strikes midnight or risk being trapped in Pittsborough forever. Now if only he could figure out how to walk on his wooden feet... --------------------------- This short story is a modern day fairytale mashup, partially inspired by Pinocchio, The Frog Prince, and many others. She who has worked her entire life to be the perfect queen, being the oldest of her sisters, now finds a sense of freedom. She opens her eyes to a real adventure laid out in front of her rather than on a book. She who always doubted herself with her royal duties, lives the life she's always dreamed of. She learns more responsibility. But alas, they face some trouble along the way. Being secretly royal has it's consequences. And when the threat turns to their kingdom, which of them will rise to protect their land, honoring her ancestors, who have once stood where she is now, defending their true home. But his step-father is busy plotting how his own son can win Charmaine's heart and doesn't want Elliot getting in the way. They will soon discover that Charmaine won't be easily charmed. She doesn't need a husband to rule by her side and she's going to use these balls to prove it. That is, until a friend from her past reappears and she discovers that falling in love doesn't have to mean losing control.
