Barnabas was a mental patient at Brookline Asylum. He's been there since he was 10,he's 27 now and they decide to let him go to live in the real world. 
This confuses Barnabas but he goes with it. He's dropped off at his old house on Collin hill. After a few days Barnabas meets Dr.Michael Tobin. They  become friends then Barnabas accidentally stabs Michael not realizing what he did he goes on with his life. 
After a few years he kills another person, Amanda Johnson. But of course he doesn't realize what he's doing. Until 2 years later when he meets detective Josette Collins and she tells him what's he's been doing and he's sent back to the asylum stuck with the guilt of all the murders he's committed.
