Serena's life is about as normal as it gets - for an Alkanine at least - aside from her, slightly patriotic mother and obvious lack of fighting ability, for a citizen of Yanrie. Its pretty good for her, especially when her sister returns home from the front lines of the Zaross war right before her 15th birthday, the best present she could have.
But upon meeting a boy from the neighboring kingdom of Miral she finds that the week leading up to her birthday may be a bit...chaotic, to say the least.

The thought of Guinevere coming to harm caused them so much pain that they planned an escape. When the people came for her, her parents sent her into the woods. Along Guinevere's travels she met the Queen of Nuriel. The soft Queen took pity on the near frozen child. She took Guinevere and made her a Lady. As a Lady she got to know the royal family and became close to the Kings sons. So much they called her sister and she returned with brother. As word spread an old being felt the presence of the child and what happens next is a shock to both him and Guinevere. Not even the King could stop what happens.
