Avalee Blake has never been happy where she lives, sure she loves her parents dearly, but Heraldville, Texas just isn't enough for Avalee. She wants to explore the world, try new things and find romance. Unfortunately in a small town where the cow population is ten times that of the human one and your neighbors are nosier then the little old lady in those cheesy old movies, her dreams are to remain just that, dreams. But being the only girl out of three children she has some expectations to live up too. Her father wants her to go to college, get a degree, marry a nice guy of Irish or Italian descent and not have any children until she is at least 35 years old. Whereas her mother wants her to stay in Heraldville and take over the family diner, get married to a hot Italian man, and have lots of children. Ava wants nothing more than to please both of her parents, but at the same time she just wants to be herself.
Tiziano Ermanno has never easily trusted anyone, except for his family. After many try and fail relationships he has learned that there is only one woman that he can truly trust, his mother. Living in the fairly close knit community of Gansen, New York, he has learned that keeping to himself later saves him from heart break and pain. Not to mention being and illegal street fighter, over the years he's made pleanty of enemies. But when his brother, Vicenzo, leaves town for a new job and meets a girl at the local diner Tiziano doesn't know what to do. Now in a new town, Ziano quickly learns that old ghosts can come back and haunt you, especially when you're least expecting it.
