The tick of the clock rang in my ear each second as morning grew near. I sucked on the stump of the cigarette I clenched between my trembling fingers. I knew at any second she would awake and find the mess of her boy we left. The boy she clutched onto as he inhaled his first breath. The same boy whose mouth I covered as he coughed out his last one.

He lowered his lips to mine and I instinctively opened my mouth as I captured the smoke. I wanted nothing more than to cough but I was dead set on proving to him that I wasn't as stuck up as he thought I was. He looked at me intently and I could see the glaze covering his eyes. "You passed" He said and I let out the breath I was holding. I passed. That was all that mattered to me. He smiled at me and I couldn't help myself as I was affected by him so I returned his smile. It was dark. *Bu-bump... Bu-bump... * Tiny heartbeats and blood pumping is the only thing you can hear.
