When I was a little girl, I believed in fairy tales. I believed in princes and princesses and knights in shining armor. I believed in forever and happily ever afters. I was ten when reality hit me. My mom brought the evil home with her and there was no escaping it. That's when I learned that fairy tales were just that: fairy tales. The bad stuff is real, though. The difference is that I now know that the monsters and evil villains don't always wear capes and ugly scars. No: most of the time, they appear normal. I'm weak and broken, tormented by monsters that keep reaching for me, touching my body, hurting me, living marks on my skin and soul. I don't know how it feels to sleep without waking up in the middle of the night sweating, incapable of defending myself, too afraid to scream for help. Until I meet him. He is strong enough to cast away the nightmares, to fight my demons scaring them away, to erase my scars with his tender touch. He teaches me to fight back, to be strong, to scream for help because now there is someone always coming to my rescue. Because now I have someone who loves me. Now I have him, my beautiful warrior, my soulmate, my leelen. We might not have met like normal people would, but again we are not normal and we are definitely not people.
