Beth was living a perfectly normal life, was. Then, her best friend Spencer was put in a hold.
The holds are places where teens affected with a type of mental illness go. He was put in hold NO.9 or No.9 for short. No one has ever escaped the hold for 2 decades, until Spencer does. 2 weeks after imprisonment, Spencer shows up on Beth's front porch. Surprisingly, he knocks her out and brings her to a protected house, where she meets Gavriel and Sophie. But why did Spencer bring her there? Why has he said the HD (hold docters ) are lying? Is he telling the truth, or is it all a play?

The scent of the short teen used to have was gone, replaced with the putrid smell of death and rot that covered the whole room and the killer himself.
