Dan Howell fluctuated between "not okay," and "can't bear it any longer." His home life was tragic, he was expected to look after his younger brother, Jared on his own and get a good education all at the same time. He was sick of it. Every day, he would go to the same spot, the spot where he pondered life and death. This place reminded him of his darkest times, yet he still returned. He hated it here.
Phil Lester had a good home life, he had friends. His passion consisted of writing, whether it be poetry to merely novel writing. There was only one place in particular, though, in which he felt inspired. He would occasionally visit here whenever he found the time. This place was like non-else, he loved it here.
