"Back then when I woke up each morning, there would be a reason not to leave Earth.
Not today, I seemed to always say. Not today. Somehow there was always something to do, somewhere to go, some people to see, even if they weren't at all that interesting. Sometimes it was simply because it was not that easy to leave.
I often thought that if leaving were easy, maybe I would have left long ago. I mean, think about all the things you have to do before you can be gone in peace. Like how and where. Would I use a gun or a knife? Would I want to do it at home or at a cheap shady hostel away so Alice wouldn't find me in the morning all gone and break her heart?
See? All the fuss. Technically, it's not like I would have to care all about that after I leave. But sometimes it's not all about leaving, it's about that very last moment before you leave because somehow the last moment always last until infinity. So technically, if you ruin that moment, you're gonna fuck the whole leaving thing up. It's all about that last moment and I want it to be perfect.
So I waited. Waited. And waited for a day when I wake up and all the reasons are gone."
