"Do what?" Sollux peered over his glasses at the brunette before him. 

"You know what, Captor. Will you be my fake date to this prom so I can shove it in Fef's face?" 

Sollux blinked. Once. Twice. Three times before totally processing what Eridan said. What he was asking was jealous, cruel, and completely asinine. Sollux didn't think Eridan could be a bigger asshole, yet, but he proved him wrong. This idea was terrible, sickening even.

How Sollux got roped into this fake date was a question he found himself pondering on quite a bit, lately. Sollux was a good kid, geeky, had a good social life, and fairly attractive. So when he attracts the attention of Eridan Ampora's girlfriend, he knew he was in for hell, but...never this. Never, did he imagine going on a fake date to piss off the one girl he had eyes for, with his mortal enemy. Sollux was by the ocean, sitting on the dock one day. He doesn't really have the greatest life on land, he was fired from his job, he needed money to pay rent for his apartment, he didn't have many friends, and things just didn't work out for him anymore. As he gets up to leave from the dock, he falls into the ocean, but then he's saved by some mystery person and when he finds out it was a merman who saved him, he becomes great friends with him and finds out that his name is Eridan. But then, Eridan's father disapproves of their friendship and does something horrible. Sollux then finds Eridan with tons of cuts and bruises all over him, on the beach and helps him out. He does all of this while keeping him secret from everyone else except for his best friend, Karkat. After some time, he realizes that he can't stay on land if he wants to keep Eridan safe. Sollux will have to choose whether to stay on land and look for a different way to help him, or to become a merman himself and live in the water for the rest of his life.
