Sam Uley and Leah Clearwater were meant for each other. That was until Sam broke up with Leah for her cousin, Emily. Heartbroken, Leah soon became cold and uncaring. One day while patrolling Leah encounters a young girl. Leah Clearwater, the only female werewolf, had imprinted (friend/protector) on a young girl.

Melody Wolf, a young girl who is abused by her father, moves to La Push, Washington. Melody's father, Robert, started to drink and hit Melody when her mother dies. The two moved to La Push because the neighbors were starting to get suspicion when they hear screams.
