Cleo and Ares are now eighteen and have been living with a friend of the family for thirteen years. Cleo still lives with the guilt of her families death for all this time and always finds herself falling deeper and deeper into her problems. Ares has been noticing and feels guilty for only being able to hold her and tell her everything will be fine. Ares has always planned to getting revenge, but her knows that Cleo would want to help out. Cleo was meant to go back to their old house one day and start everything from anew like her father dreamed. Ares knew that by the meaning of Cleo's which is why he understood why their father gave Cleo her name.
Ares fears that the faint ringing sound will fade if his sister continues to hurt herself mentally. He knew she loved to run in the woods like they did when they were kids, but when they both start to have fun they realized that the territory they were raised in wasn't the one they were born in. But that didn't stop Cleo's heart from racing or Ares from getting flustered. Cleo may be broken, but Ares soon realizes when she gets closer to Kayson that her heart isn't broken like she is. He believe Kayson is the one for his sister until the familiar scent hits their nose.
Cleo knows now that her and Ares will have to fight their own battles by themselves even if it costs them their lives. Ares is proud of his sister for being the Alpha he and their father always dreamed of her being, but he would never thought she would turn down her mate just to reach her goals when their father and mother told them that they could go mad if they deny their mate. But Ares fear for his sister's life more than anything and Cleo just wants to reach her goals even if it kills her.
