In Black Ash

A thousand years ago humans left earth in search of new homes. A group of them landed on the planet Monthur, and met the Degata. The Degata want the humans to leave, but there is magic here. Not to mention, untold resources. They need Monthur for themselves. Some ancient texts say the humans started to conflict, others say it was the Degata. Either way, a hundred year war took place, leaving the Degata with nothing, and the humans with everything.

Nowadays things have changed, but not enough. People of all kinds are getting tired of the world order. The humans have their Prosper, and single person with unlimited power over corporations, cities, and agriculture. The Degata have their King, a man with insurmountable influence over all things including the planet itself. In Anthuria, where both Prosper and King reside, there is constant war. Degata servitude is abolished, but little else would change for many years. The King was murdered in the process, leaving his son ,Jaqeem, to influence the people. Someone inside has been sending him intel for many years. The coronation of soon to be Prosper Damara Schaal gives him an opportunity to show his face in front of a few powerful humans, but to confirm who this contact is.
