Kora Hadley is a high school student who is used to spending her days gardening, playing video games, and hanging out with her best friend Jasper. She would rather peruse the farmer's market than go shopping at the mall, and she wouldn't be caught dead in Starbucks. The only thing that makes her stand out in a crowd is that she is the only seventeen year old she knows who isn't planning on going to college as soon as she graduates.

So why is she being stalked?

Kora feels eyes on her at almost every turn, and catches sight of a figure in the distance tailing her and her best friend in public. Jasper is the only one who believes her, and her mother's sketchy behavior isn't making her feel any better about things. As the Kansas winter grows unseasonably warm, and Jasper starts avoiding her as well, Kora starts to believe she might just be losing her mind....

Until her 18th birthday, when the ground opens up and swallows her whole.

It won't be simple, she knows, and she's not quite that eager to take it up, but from the moment she found out that she was Persephone, there was no way to back out. She should've known, however, that dealing with all powerful, immortal deities wasn't going to be easy. They've got a few secrets and personality flaws up their sleeves, and they could be deadly.
