My Name Is Thea Rose.

Thea Rose a bright girl from Pines Glade City faces tragedy when her brother is murdered on his way to meet her, over ran with guilt Thea shuts herself out focusing on her new life at college believing herself to be damaged. It is here she meets Kol Haynes whom is harbouring a dark secret he is a vampire, but no ordinary vampire his family is one of the eldest vampire clans alive. Kol wants to live an ordinary life and he thinks he might have found it and finds himself compelled by Thea's darkness believing he can help her while also establishing a normal life for himself Kol sets out on this task. The Haynes family has many enemies some of which are hunting them, another vampire clan comes into town sending man after man at the Haynes clan and trying to destroy them including tearing away the one piece of humanity Kol has latched himself onto Thea, desperate to protect a girl he seems to be falling for he vows to do anything. Will Thea be entranced by the darkness, or will Kol open her up to the light while also freeing himself from his supernatural chains.

Character note - This story will be very similar to the vampire diaries in some ways, such as the vampires will have similar mechanics, and Kol may or not have a rival for Thea's affections at some point.
