A 3-year old Percy Jackson has the perfect home. His mother, Sally, and his father, the legendary sea god Poseidon are both living with him in his small, yet cozy apartment. There aren't any laws that prohibit gods/goddesses from visiting their children. Not yet at least. Percy's happy life is suddenly torn to shreds as Zeus passes the cursed law. Sally is forced to marry Gabe Ugliano, an abusive drunk, in order to hide Percy from the powerful monsters just waiting to kill him. Bitter and hurt, she vents all of her pain and anger on Percy. Percy, now 4-years old, is being brutally abused by both his mother AND his step-father. After 3 years of harsh treatment, Percy is blind and mute.
