Her mother was quite a belle when she was young, just like Miss Burns's younger sister, Alice. But Crystal is pretty. But--doesn't there seem to be a certain eeriness about her? Usually when I look at a girl of sixteen they seem rather light-hearted and gay, as if they had not a care in the world. But Crystal... she seemed so deep and serious... almost foreboding! My, her eyes seem so filled with secrets and thoughts... It doesn't feel right."

Alec Kendrick, smoldering hot, very typical stereotyped bad boy. No, he's not rich with absent parents, nor is he poor and struggling to provide for his family. He has two brothers and a baby sister, who he gets a smite bit overprotective over. Alec likes his motorbikes, leather jackets and the occasional back talk to the teachers, plus picking a couple of fights and some drinking. Admittedly, so he's not a total angel either. These two very different people would probably have not even crossed paths if it wasn't for a mixed up folder, a weekend lost in the woods, a stolen copy of an embarrassing tape, crazy siblings, dancing best friends and of course, some sparks. A long long time ago, there were humans who carry crystal hearts in their chests. They knew how precious their hearts were so they hid from the world. Just as someone had said, 'No secret can be kept buried and hidden forever'. They were eventually found out by the very world they feared would know of their secret- their crystal hearts and the power they hold. For thousands of years, the people with crystal hearts were being hunted like animals. If one of them was captured, his/her heart would be gouged out from his/her chest by his captors. One could say the crystal hearts were like the spoils of war. The greedy humans were very delighted when their wishes came true through the use of the crystal hearts. Slowly, the bearers of the crystal hearts dwindled. Ah, how cruel the world is to have humans murder one another for what- money, power, fame? How bleak the world has become. Tragic.
