Meet McKinley. When she was 8, she watched her grandma spiral downhill mentally and physically in the months following her grandpa's death. At 13, she watched as her parents fought their way through their nasty divorce. Junior year of high school, after her best friend's boyfriend cheated on her, she spent hours sitting on the bathroom floor, holding her best friend's hair back as she cried so hard that she made herself sick. Her whole life, she had sworn off the idea of love. She was guarded, hesitant, and fearful. And then she met Wes. From the second her eyes landed on him the summer after her junior year of college, she knew he was going to mess up her whole world.
When things didn't work out for the two of them, she was so sure that she would never take the risk again, but what happens when she moves back to the small town she grew up in and everything changes?

Little town, little events. After a brief but impressionable summer of growing close and being inseparable buddies, he moves away to Las Vegas for 3 years never contacting her again, just for her life of her first boyfriend, school studies, household drama and basically her attempt to change into a more feminine girl fall apart when she gets news her sweet kiddo pal is coming back, only to find, the city changes things, in more ways than one, and the kind, innocent, polite boy she once knew, is characteristically unrecognizable in the weirdest of ways. Drama, hate, triangles, mixed feelings, past secrets, present conflicts, these are all expected when the boy too wild for her small town changes her life at every turn; but what happens, when the most unexpected of feelings occur, prompting issues and shaky hope, when he seems incapable of truly loving anything?
