Zaira is a young mermaid in a pod far off from the nearest human shore. Still, some ships will venture near their home and it was Zaira's job as Siren to lure them away with her song. And she did, because she hated the alternative. Most pods don't have a Siren and so they have no choice but to destroy the ship and drown the sailors. Zaira had never personally witnessed this and she didn't plan to start when a storm hit while she lured a ship away. You don't always get what you want. Zaira finds herself in danger. Between the risk of humans finding out that she exists and her Matriarch having her killed for her crimes the only person she can rely on is a young fisherman named Eric. Can she survive with the cruel laws of her pod, or will she be forced to risk shallow waters and dangerous humans? *and that drawing of the mermaid is not mine!!!! I just kinda put words on it. I got it from an article about mermaids!* This story is kind of what I wish The Little Mermaid actually was like... in a way. Yet still somehow an original story.

A story similar to a classic fairy tale, but with a major twist ... What if the little mermaid were a deep sea merman instead? And what if the human he fell in love with went to live with him in the sea instead? Though born as a regular human on land, Henrietta always felt as if she were suffocating. She struggled to survive and belong among her kind. On a night when she sought to end her life at sea, she was rescued by Elsen, a merman who had once felt the same as her. Despite coming from different worlds, their shared experiences instantly built a bridge between them. When misfortune struck again, Henrietta lost her home and was driven to the edge once more. Seeing that she had nowhere else to go, Elsen brought her to his home in the deep sea. Although the ocean depths were tranquil and soothing, Henrietta's heart was still plagued with worries. And she soon discovered that Elsen also had yet to defeat his own demons. Will these two broken souls finally heal and come to love not only each other but themselves as well?
