Catherine Ailey has graduate high school and started her adulthood working at a clothing store, Delilah's Closet. Catherine, also known as Cat, went to work just like any normal day. She didn't know that everything she had known and loved was going to disappear in a matter of hours.
Catherine and her best friend, Ivory, learn that the world has been overruled by a new man eating virus. After finding her beloved aunt, Jenna, the trio create new alliances while also fighting enemies in their struggle to survive the infected world.

All she wants is to keep her friends safe and find somewhere safe they can live, away from the horrors of the world. She travels the continent, trying to find somewhere she can stay. She faces unimaginable threats and has to learn to face her fears, or die at the hands of them. She faces many things and find some things. She faces death and sadness, faces the unthinkable. And she finds real friendship and even love. Is it possible to love in the apocalypse? She'll just have to find out. She learns of what the government did and that they are looking for her, and she runs, trying to keep her and her friends alive. But there's only so much one girl can do. Hardly anybody ever considers the barbaric murderers with the Cheshire Cat smiles or the cunning killers lurking around for their next victim to slice open. Or what about the huge range of communities out there, trying their best to thrive in the new world? Surely, not all of them are bad... right? Well, Brooklyn Scotts would be inclined to disagree to that last point made. For the girl has been surviving on her own since it all started, joining and leaving small groups here and there.
