It is the year 2020. Six years have passed since the day Facebook became sentient and human society has disintegrated into remote, isolated settlements that are scattered throughout the world since then. The deactivation of all technology accessible to humans by Facebook has caused a pandemic of “Techthritis”, a disease characterized by blue spots all over the body and insanity. Only the strong, whose internet lives have not been merged with their identity and character, overcome their over reliance on technology and survive the apocalypse. Hades Ash Tag, a jaded and cynical 18 year old recluse, is one of the many survivors who have found their way to “The Community”, one of the few human habitations that remain in North America. By fate or by chance, he meets Amelia Hu, a migrant wanderer seems to be the opposite of him in every way: optimistic, sociable, and capricious. They seem to share only one common aspect: a desire to restore humanity to its former greatness, each in their own unique way. She hasn't seen any other person besides her homeschool teacher since she was a little girl after a mysterious incident happened at school one day that her mother refuses to talk to her about. She keeps her locked away on a farm and only lets her go out occasionally. It isn't until her cat dies and after picking him up, becomes alive again when she realizes why her mother has locked her away for all these years. She discovers she has the gift of healing. When she confronts her mother about it, her mother reveals to her that they are not human but in fact, Goddesses trapped inside human vessels to protect Kore from the Gods who want to marry her. But things only get worse when one day, as Kore is picking flowers in the meadow, there is an earthquake and she is taken up by this earthquake and falls into the arms of none other than Hades. A modern re-imagining of the story of Persephone.

Certainly they could trust that those in power ultimately had the best interests of the people in mind, right? ~~~ Luna slouched low in her seat, staring at droplets of water that ran diagonally down the window of the bus. The sky was a flat, depressing grey and the incessant, soaking rain left her constantly chilled. It was a typical "liquid sunshine" day in the Pacific Northwest. They drove past a single tall scraggly tree on top of a hill shrouded in mist. The creepy tree was full of screaming crows. How could she hear them from inside the bus when she couldn't even seem to hear the voices of the kids around her? Geez, that was an awfully freaking dark image. She shivered and looked away. What did they call a group of crows again? Right, a murder of crows. Perfect. The weather was certainly the only thing that was typical these days, although you'd never know it by looking around the bus at most of the kids as they sat joking and gossiping with each other just like they had before... before that day everything had changed. Idiots.

First started in 2015, this story is at 50k+ words, but was removed when a plotting hiccup was encountered. I now intend to split it into three parts, and this is the complete Part 1.
