Running from your past is harder than you may think... And trust me, I would know. I've been running for a year now, and I've always been able to go by unnoticed; that is, until now. You see, my life is based off rules I've made to protect myself and the people around me from the dangers that come with my presence. No one should go through what I have... so, here's what my life revolves around. Rule number 1- Don't EVER trust anybody. People always take your trust for granted; you never know what people are capable of doing. They can surprise you. Rule number 2- Don't let your guard down.. It's there for a reason, if you let anyone in for a second they'll take any vulnerable aspect of yourself and use it to ruin you. Rule number 3- How I see it, this is the most important rule. Well, it's more of an observation. Your heart will always disagree with your brain. When that happens, listen to your brain. The heart will only ever cause you pain and sorrow... complications in your life that you don't need. These rules that couldn't be any easier to follow all came crumbling down with one slip up. So listen to what I'm saying when I tell you, follow the rules. ___________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for clicking on our book! I hope you enjoy!

"This was just supposed to be summer fun. That was what we agreed on." I tried to talk to him as he was vigorously shaking his head, tearing his gaze away from me. "You were never just a summer fun to me." He stared into my eyes and I felt exposed because I might have developed some feelings for him that I've never wanted to face. Heddy Lopez has just barely graduated and is trying to find the purpose of her life when her friends take her away for the summer before they go on separate ways. Little did she know that an old crush and complicated relationships would cross her way again making her last high school summer completely different than she'd expected it to be. Secrets, heartbreaks, and empty promises siege her over and over again. And they never seem to stop. But how much an already broken heart could take before fully giving up?
