Margaret had a big secret. Well... big depending on who you asked. She absolutely adored sign language. Something about being able to communicate using just your hands had always fascinated her. This, along with her passion and determination, lead her to learn the language. She picked it up quickly when she was young, but she had yet to tell a soul. She couldn't help but silently hope that this hidden talent of hers would one day become useful. And it looked like that day was today.
Lance, the new deaf boy in her history class didn't have have a translator. Coming out of her shell, she helped him with the class content. In the process, she found a new friend... Though maybe he would turn out to be a little more than just a friend.

Not As Different As They Thought
Beck Addams is the school's smartest kid. He aces everything ranging from pop quizzes to exams, and everyone wants him to tutor them. Deaf since childhood, he never let it stop him; he does everything he can to be able to communicate with people. Everyone loves him and he has a very happy life. Riley King is the school's "emo" kid. He wears all black, sits in the back of the class, and gets straight C's. Like typical emo kids, he never talks to anyone. One good reason for that is because he is mute. Even if he weren't, people would be too scared to talk to him; no one wants to go near him. He likes it that way though. He dislikes people. The only thing these two boys have in common is that they can use and understand ASL, though Riley rarely uses it, and they are both LGBT. Beck is gay and Riley is genderqueer and demiromantic asexual. With how different they are, how could they ever interact with one another? Well, one day they get partnered for a project at school. Will they be able to work together? Will Beck get Riley to communicate with him at all? Or will Riley just push Beck away like he does everyone else? Corinne's childhood friend Callum carries an aching heart while she is away and misses her presence. Him, Corinne and a few others have been clueless about how they have always felt for each other, the others knowing all along. So when the others give him an opportunity, Callum tells Corinne how he feels after a card game threat and a surprise night visit from Corinne. In 2015 being in a military family is hard, which is what Dae and Dustin know first hand. The pair of them have a ridiculous amount of connections, few being known like how Dae's mother served with Dustin's father throughout deployments. Dae had always pushed Dustin away when he wanted to get closer. On the run up to Valentine's day Dustin has a grand plan in which he hopes Dae manages to see how he feels. Presents appear in her locker, her dad gets back from deployment with a companion she was certain was not breathing and then a gift bag which Smoke doesn't react to which makes her suspicious. With your mum being trained as a bomb dog handler that's natural right? Even her dad is in on the plan. Will Dustin leave with the heart he's always wanted or will he get turned away again? A short story about a villainess girl who had gained knowledge of her fate. She didn't changed anything and had accepted her fate. Her 'henchmen' as a voice called them, are her precious friends. We've all heard about 'the main character'. The type of person who lives through the most dramatic and improbable situations, and finds the kind of epic romance you only see in works of fiction. Which makes you think about how unrealistic love like that is. I used to think the same thing until I met him. Until I met 'the bad boy' that, as it turns out, wasn't that bad at all, just simply...a boy. A boy with an easy smile, a charming personality and looks so enticing that I couldn't keep my eyes off of him if I tried. A boy whose shoulders were starting to slump with the weight of his past and his family. A boy who believed that the only way to survive was by putting a lock on his heart and chaining it down to a place so deep inside of him that no one could ever reach it again. A boy who, for reasons I'll never comprehend, placed the key inside my palm and didn't shy away when I tried to free his hidden heart from its restraints.
