Is it ok to fall for someone you barely know? Is it normal to fall for someone that is not even of your kind? How is one supposed to fall in love again when pain tells you nothing will ever fill that whole again?
She never knew she was gifted, she did not even know who or what she really was... not until she went looking for aid for her Brothers...and found him, the Elven King.
He loves his homeland so much. His spirit and the spirit of Greenwood are almost one. The forest always tells him what happens in every corner of his realm and beyond. Lately it has been telling him about a growing threat to the north-eastern border... What could it be? That area is home to those misterious, ancient creatures. This cannot be good, right?
She will do whatever it takes to protect her family. He will do whatever it takes to protect her, for she is his new Spring, his little morning light.

Light and Shadows (Thranduil's story post BOTFA) by Cineva999
53 parts Complete Mature
The Elvenking is like a very strong, old tree, deeply rooted in the kingdom he pledged himself to protect. He also pledged himself to protect his heart from love, out of fear that it might weaken him, but that proved to be disastrous. Love...what daunting word rubbed in his face by that fearless redhead elleth during the battle in Dale. Is there any love left in him? Follows what happens with Thranduil and Tauriel after BOTFA, during the War of the Ring and further into the 4th Age. Mainly from Thranduil's POV and including canon events that are only briefly mentioned in the books. I try to respect the lore as much as I can. Feedback and comments are much appreciated :) "His words were unforgiving again, hiding under the same cold tone he had for centuries, yet he could not believe them himself anymore. Tauriel was looking at him, her gaze seemingly piercing through his soul. His dream to restore Mirkwood to Greenwood and his thoughts of avenging his beloved wife were contradicting everything he said. He did not want to care yet every fibre of his being cared too much." "There was something else that Thranduil noticed in Celeborn's eyes: a combination of respect and admiration. 'You are strong, Thranduil. You are like one of the old Mirkwood trees, deeply rooted in the earth, that the centuries cannot wither. I always thought that, no matter what evil lies upon Arda, you will endure.' Unspoken ( A Legolas Love Story ) by DormantAuthor
54 parts Complete
AFTER the Battle of Five Armies, an elf prince journeys to the north of Middle Earth in search of the mysterious Strider. But to also escape the grief of a 'love unspoken' as well as the oppressive regime of his father, King Thranduil. There among the Dúnedain, Legolas finds friendship, adventure, a sense of humor and a female ranger who is not quite what she seems. Is he fated to forever love another unrequited? And what of the broken relationship with his father, will the prince's choices drive a deeper wedge between them? A classic love story, filled with adventure and intrigue, but ALSO a journey into the unwritten years of the beginning of an epic friendship with Aragorn; all set prior to 'The Lord of the Rings'. *Feb 2018: 2nd in The Middle Earth Awards* *June 2018: 2nd in Arkenstone (The Hobbit) category, The Tolkien Awards* *July 2018: Official Featured Wattpad Fanfiction* *Jan 2019: #3 in Romance Hotlist (181k stories) -0-0-0-0-0- I may have nicknamed this story 'Pride and Prejudice for Elves', our silver-haired princeling has several centuries of repression he needs to work through, as well lighten up - before he can become the elf that we know and love in LOTR! The story is COMPLETE! All votes and comments greatly appreciated. I'd be absolutely thrilled to have you join me on this journey of self-discovery in Middle Earth. The best writing in this story belongs to @GreenScholarTales, who kindly allowed me to weave my romance into her story, 'Starting Anew.' Please go and see her other works and her original series on Wattpad, The Book of Terrus. The beautiful painting on the cover was kindly loaned by the highly talented Irishmellow, see her awesome work at https://irishmellow.deviantart.com/ Copyright: Tolkien owns all the familiar characters, Jackson & Co. own Tauriel and the starting premise, Green Scholar owns several significant events and almost all of the rangers ... but one, Wren, she is all mine!
