"I'd turn back, if I were you." The sign read, tattered and on the once golden road. The silver-haired man looked at the single brick laying next to it, out of place with the road. The brick was dripping with fresh blood. He picked it up and looked to the distance, the Emerald City glowing eerily. It was the only thing that was still the same as when he was last here. His time was up he knew as he walked on the road, tripping on some of the large cracks. Brighter and brighter the light got as he neared it. Then the piercing light engulfed him. He was gone.

A girl with emerald green eyes sat reading by the moonlight peacefully. That had been her routine every night before the librarian wound up his battered old library.
