[Book 1 of the In Between series]

They met over at a coffee shop, and somehow find the missing puzzle of each other between a declined Frappuccino and a conversation.

---

A mere phone call could always make a difference. That was, in the life of little Mary Dobrev.

Maria Dobrev was a single, hardworking twenty five year old woman who struggled between her work and her family. So when her mother passed away, she found herself tumbling down to a hole she didn't know she could ever climb back up from.

Stumbling upon a blind man asking for her help to cross the busy road of Manhattan, Mary didn't know if that was going to be her saving grace or her downfall. And what with the calls from said man that comes after that.

Well it was her fault for epicly giving the gentleman her number anyway.

----

This used to be a short story I wrote under the title "A Declined Frappuccino and A Conversation". :)

I'm sure we've all heard this popular love quote that says; If you ever have to choose between two people, always choose the second person because if you truly loved the first person, you wouldn't have fallen in love with the second. Well, not all of us would agree on that. Mia North included. ***** So meet Mia North, a 21 year old self acclaimed cursed and pennyless woman who has only one aim in her life. Find a way to fend for her sick father and teenage brother. As fate plans it, she lands a job in Starvnos house of Publishers, the largest publishing company controlled by the two contrasting brothers. Alan and Alaric Starvnos. But what happens when she has to choose between the two brothers? Even worse, what happens when it turns out, it isn't her choice at all but fate has to make that decision for her? And the worst of it all, what happens when fate makes the wrong decision for her, one that could cost her the life of someone she loves? *** "Miss North, you're fired." The beast in a suit nonchalantly declared to me as I fought the urge to grab the mirror on his desk and smack his face with it. "You gave me twenty manuscripts to edit in just three hours." My voice reverberated in a the four walls, not giving a damn he was my boss. "And you failed to do it. Now listen here, I don't work with a lazy, dull, incompetent, unreliable and irresponsible mediocrity of an employee who's not half as committed as the owners of this organization which unfortunately for you, includes me. And, I'm sorry, I'm not Alan. Never in a billion years, will I be smitten with you." "Now don't let me repeat myself, Miss North. "You're fired." Gracefully, he pressed a button on his desk. "Security, report to my office and escort Miss North out." *** Completed : 20th September 2020 Enjoy!! The moment you open this book, well, you'll testify for yourself.

"So, let me get this straight. You stomped all over his paperwork?" She started. "Not intentionally, but yes," I confirmed it. "Threw a drink in his face?" She added. "Expensive red wine." I described. "Rammed into his car with yours deliberately?" she counted on her third finger. "Um...I'm not proud of that one," I said cringing. "And called him offensive names?" She ended the list and I winced. "Twice." I specified. "And you're still alive?" She blinked, looking genuinely surprised. "Geez, don't be dramatic or anything..." I frowned at her hyperbolic statement. "Maybe he's keeping you around to get revenge." She suggested. Possible. I wouldn't put it past him. "I didn't know alright!" I exclaimed. "Let's hope that excuse is acceptable.." She was merely amused. "Working with my new boss is going to be a piece of work." ** Synopsis: When the CEO of Signature Heights: Jensen Black, and a stubborn employee: Alexandra Brook, clash, it's a battle of wits & a war of perseverance. Is this really the correct answer-to leave my family, friends, and my normalness. I want to believe that I can manage that burden. Mary. "It's better when you don't think about it, but if you do-don't use some half ass reason to justify it." My life changed the moment I met you, and I swear to repay you for your kindness. Because you and everyone else are my family. There are people in this world who work in the shadows protecting everyone from the evils of the world and I was lucky enough to witness this first hand. --- I wrote these characters and the baseline of the story all the way back in 2nd grade. Now, 17 years later, I decided to actually turn it into a full flesh story. I will note that it may be somewhat confusing to read due to the way I write in this. But over time it will become easier.
