A lonely, disfigured man meets a fortuneteller promising wealth if he'll retrieve a magic ring she left in a mysterious chamber below a city street.  He'll face fearful illusions - illusions, but primal.  Will he rise to the occasion?  Can the fortuneteller be trusted - is she even who she claims to be?  

Short story, under 2,000 words.  Quick read.  Inspired by H.C. Andersen's "The Tinder-Box".  Which as many of you know, is inspired by hundreds of ancient myths and stories.All Rights Reserved
