"Oh, sweetheart" her voice was a little deeper than the norm for most females. Aspen didn't mind, she liked the way Max's voice sounded. Max pulled Aspen in for a hug. "What happened?" Max asked, voice full of concern. "Nothing to be concerned about, I tripped down my stairs and fell through the front window." Max was well aware this was a lie, but she didn't want to force Aspen to tell her. Max was certain Aspen would come around in due time. "Shouldn't you go to the hospital?" Max asked. "Nah. Head and leg wounds just bleed. I'll be okay" Aspen replied. Max simply nodded. "As long as you don't bleed to death, the second you look like you're gonna pass out we're going to the hospital!" Max chuckled out. Max threw her arm around Aspen's shoulders, partially to help support her, and partially because she wanted to continue holding Aspen close. Max knew something was amiss in Aspen's home life, and she made a silent vow to herself to figure out what it was, and stop it.
