After losing his family to a monster when he was very young, Seven dedicated his life to hunting down the supernatural creatures that hurt humans. One of the, if not the, best monster-hunters in the world, there is no creature that he doesn't know how to kill, save only one. This particular monster he has hunted for years, but he has never been able to catch it. Seven doesn't even know how to kill it if he finds it, but that doesn't matter because he will never stop trying.
Revenge is an excellent motivator.
Jason West, by contrast, is as ordinary a nineteen year-old as they come. His family is too poor for college and Jay himself isn't academic or athletic enough for a scholarship, so he sticks with his small-time job as a bartender for a small restaurant in Portland (the owner passes him off as being twenty-one). It's just Jason's luck, or perhaps destiny, that a very different young man walks into that same restaurant, pulling Jason into a very non-mundane world.
It quickly becomes clear to Seven that he needs Jason to help him find his quarry, as much as he may dislike putting someone new to the supernatural world in harm's way. These two couldn't be more different, but it will take the both of them to finish what Seven's monster started all those years ago.
