They say 'ignorance is bliss' but 20 year old Victoria Fallon never fully understood the weight to those words until everything she knew crumbled away. The media and the government had been thrown into disarray by a new disease they were calling 'Lichtenburg Influenza', so called for its most distinctive symptom of dark, almost black veins protruding from the body. No one knew how it spread; global cases seemed to appear almost at random. 

But the death toll was rising. There were yet to be any reported survivors as the infected are dragged from their homes into quarantine. Victoria learns the hard way how devastating the illness is, but as the world changes around her she begins to discover the truth behind the lies.
