Rebellious. Daring. Visionary. Tide is the teenage prince of North Oceanica, an underwater kingdom of merpeople. And while his title carries prestige and responsibility, Tide is the last person who would want to take it; he’d rather spend his days watching the sun dance along the water above, fantasizing about living life as a human. However, Tide must put his dreams on hold when his eighteenth birthday arrives—he has to choose a princess from one of the other three kingdoms to marry, and begin his official training to take over the throne. Feeling more trapped than ever, he wants nothing more than to escape his current life, so he turns to the royal sorcerer for help. But in order to become human, he must be willing to give up something valuable...

By-the-book. Shy. Realist. Madison Hamilton is a teenage girl who is nothing but average. She doesn’t take risks and stays out of trouble; the perfect recipe for surviving high school. While Madison does have a couple of friends and a (small) social life, she really wants to be alone. Alone is where she can indulge in the depression she tries so hard to hide, finding comfort in pain. But when the pain suddenly becomes too much, Madison finds herself in the hospital with nowhere to go with her life. Her friends become distant memories, and she truly finds out what it means to have no one. Vulnerable, humiliated, and broken, she struggles to find something worth living for...

The story of a boy who wants to escape and a girl who wants to face life again. Two lonely people, two separate worlds, will soon become one.

A little twist on The Little Mermaid.
