Rose Thorne. The nerd of Brookedale High, lowest of the low, bullied for being smart and for having a "perfect life." But her life is far from perfect and she has secrets. She has an abusive father, a past that haunts her and she has to work everyday, but it's not all bad. Her colleagues are her best friends, her anchors to stop her from leaving and they know about her life at school. Everyday starts with a frown for her, but most end in a smile. At work, she's known as the Heartbreak Girl, but at school, she's simply known as the Nerd, punching bag of the school.

Xavier Leandro. The bad boy of Brookedale High, the most popular and feared boy in the school. His gang rules the school, mess with them, they'll mess with your life. He seems like he's unbreakable, but he too has secrets. 

 Xavier is one of the many bullies of Rose, so what happens when he moves in next to her? At first, he's horrified, but when one of her secrets is revealed, he sees her in a new light. Slowly, but surely, he manages to chip away her hard shell, but will he find out who she really is,
