Nothing but Shadows (Hanya Bayangan) adalah cerita pendek keempat di novella Tales from Shadowhunter Academy, yang ditulis oleh Cassandra Clare dan Sarah Rees Brennan. Cerita pendek ini dirilis dalam bentuk ebook pada 19 Mei 2015, sebelum dipublikasikan dalam bentuk kompilasi 10 cerita pendek.
Simon bukanlah murid pertama yang merasa terasing di Akademi Pemburu Bayangan, murid setengah-warlock dan kutu buku bernama James Herondale dulu tidak mudah berbaur dengan siswa lain. Simon belajar tentang pengalaman James di Akademi dan memaknai perjuangan menemukan tempat di antara para Pemburu Bayangan, dalam pengantar cerita The Last Hours ini.
Inilah cerita tentang bagaimana Simon melawan kebiasaan di Akademi Pemburu Bayangan, mendengarkan kisah James Herondale dan Matthew Fairchild serta proses tidak biasa yang mereka alami dalam menjadi sahabat sekaligus parabatai.
