After months of begging and pleading, Mary-Kate Whitmore and Leia Marshalls' parents finally agreed to let them spend the summer before their senior year at the Marshalls family cottage.

Halfway through their summer vacation, M.K. and Leia are bored and decide to go back home for the remaining month of summer, but they quickly realize that everybody else on Earth has vanished, or just the places they've looked anyways. There is no explanation for how and why everyone else left. There are no signs of struggle, there are no bodies, everything seems like its been untouched.

Together — along with a pair of brothers who are just as clueless as them — they try and find a plausible reason behind the sudden disappearance of all of the other humans and try to keep their sanity as they do so.
