Joshua, a builder with a girlfriend finds his life turned upside down when a fire in his home, shared with his little sister and his mother, ravages and burns the house.
Realising his little sister's still trapped inside, fire crew nowhere in sight, he runs in to save her but in the process finds himself burnt and his leg broken.
As his world changes, he loses faith and belief until he meets her, Nurse Jennifer Knight, her determination to get him back on his feet makes him feel like he can do something but he begins to realise, she doesn't look at him as if he's scarred, she looks at him without pity or sorrow.
He begins the journey to recovery but also the journey to love, real love because sometimes darkness will show you the light.
