I always felt as if something inside of me was missing. No matter what I did, who I was with, I never felt whole. Never complete. Dakota Woods has had it pretty rough. Both of her parents were killed and, with her brother Wesley, she has to move to go and live with their grandma, their only living relative. Their grandmother is on the brink of death so they don't really have anybody to take care of them but each other. Dakota tries her hardest to be the same bubbly person she was before her parents death. She manages to pull it off to everyone except one; Zane. Will he be that 'missing piece'? Or will his secret and her past keep them apart?

"Excuse me, sir. I think you may have dropped these?" It was the voice I noticed first. Smooth, a little amused, and low enough to draw me out of myself. Then I saw him. Dirty blonde hair that looked like waves crashing down the sides of his face, and freckles like splattered paint across his fair skin. A silver hoop in his nose, another in his brow, both catching the light. And those eyes... electric blue, staring into my green ones with intensity. - After a heartbreaking loss, Killian has spent two years shielding himself from love, or any human contact really-convinced that no one could ever replace the person he lost. Finn, on the other hand, is caught in the throes of a toxic relationship, knowing he's not getting what he deserves but is too scared to walk away. When their paths cross, the spark is undeniable, but both are hesitant, scared of getting too close. Killian fears the pain of loving and losing again, while Finn's relationship has made him lose hope all together-almost. Will they let their pasts define them, or can they find the courage to bloom together in the wake of their ruins?
