"Okay... what does the 'ladies man' need to know?" Referencing the most recent interview he did. "Oh, come on. I didn't expect them to keep that part in the interview." She giggled. "It was funny, I'm glad they kept it in." He flicked her exposed leg through the dress slit. "Okay, but I just had a question about Ladybug." Marinette swallowed hard at the mention of herself. She suddenly felt like she shouldn't be hearing this because she was Ladybug. "Okay, shoot it." He bit his lip, maybe unsure how to word it. "Well... I kinda tried to court her for at least the last 7 months. She didn't accept it, and I finally accepted that myself... but I guess my question is why she might not have wanted me. I'm sorry, I'm not even sure you could answer that... It just seems like Ladybug trusts you, so maybe she mentioned something to you?" -- Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a usually stubborn, headstrong girl, finally gives up on liking Adrien Agreste. He can't seem to take the hint, and she can't seem to conjure the confidence just to tell him. I can be myself around her." Ladybug smiled, her heart warming. "That sounds wonderful, Chat. I'm glad you've found someone like that." Chat grinned, a bit sheepish. "It was unexpected. I had these strong feelings for you for so long, but now I realize it was more admiration." Ladybug's heart skipped a beat. Chat had been infatuated with her, but she had never been able to return his feelings. "That's a good realization, Chat," Ladybug said gently. "I know what it's like to think you're in love, only to realize maybe it wasn't." Chat's eyes brightened. "Wait, are you... seeing someone too?" Ladybug nodded. "Yes. I've been spending time with someone. He's thoughtful, always makes me smile. I think I'm falling for him." Chat's eyes widened in surprise, but he smiled genuinely. "That's amazing, m'lady! You deserve that." "Thanks, Chat." Ladybug smiled. "I think we've both grown, realizing we needed to open up to others, to find happiness beyond our masks." He nodded. "For the longest time, I thought being in love with you was my only option, but now, she makes me feel something I didn't know I could. I think I'm falling in love with her." Ladybug said softly, "She's lucky to have you. I'm happy for you, Chat." Chat flashed a grin. "Thanks, m'lady. But you haven't told me much about your guy. Is he as amazing as you?" Ladybug laughed. "He's great. We've known each other for a while. We used to be friends, but over time, I started seeing him differently." Chat's eyes gleamed. "A longtime friend, huh? That's interesting. Marinette looked up to find a window broken. "Chat! What did you do again!?" She asked angrily. "Well, didn't you know there was an Akuma attack?" He asked shocked. Marinette felt pure shock that she let herself be caught up so much in her thoughts that she missed an Akuma attack. "You need to go back up to your room. I don't want you to get hurt." Chat Noir's one desire is to protect and assist his lady, even when it means putting his own life in jeopardy. Marinette's deepest fears come true when his ride or die sentiment leaves him cold at her feet. Ashamed and guilt-ridden, she turns her miraculous in to Master Fu and asks him to find someone else for the job, but something far more sinister is brewing, and with no LadyBug to come to the rescue, who will Paris, and more importantly, Chat Noir, turn to to save them in their time of need? Written over the course of only a few days, this is a short story that I don't plan on lengthening into a full length tale. I also don't plan on editing unless requested repeatedly.
