It is disheartening to be a female in this world. However, I am fortunate to be an Arab and Muslim. While I am a proud Muslim, it is the traditions that have confined us. We often claim to be open-minded, but in reality, we are not. We assert that girls are not oppressed, yet they are. We claim that infanticide of girls has ceased, but it continues, albeit in a less literal form. Therefore, I am compelled to write this. Girls, regardless of their Arab heritage, are still being systematically killed across the globe. It is imperative that someone addresses this issue.
