The story alternates from the point of view of Debra and Bug, just 2 ordinary girls whose lives are changed forever as they step into the arena. After all there can only be one winner... But Kantmiss has been to a party before, but her friends kicked her out so she shot them all with a machine gun. Hence the name Kantmiss. So partying is definitely a real treat for her. Meaning to, she becomes a contender. If she is to win, she has to make choices that aren't that important.
