A beat of silence followed. The announcement seemed to hang in the air like a slow-building question.
"However," he continued, "that room can only accommodate eleven students, so the staff decided to randomly assign a small group to it. If your name is called, please know this was chosen purely by random draw. There's no ranking or special criteria involved. It's simply how the numbers worked out."
