It happened one night. She encountered something rather bizarre. She met someone who she considered a monster, the Red Eyed Man. "I can't let it go in vain." In the dim, smoky haze of the 1950s jazz scene, Walter Devereaux, a gifted saxophonist and club owner, poured his soul into the music that filled the walls of The Blue Note Club. Every weekend, his eyes would search for her-the enigmatic woman in the red dress. She was a quiet presence, always perched at the edge of the crowd, her crimson attire burning through the shadows. Though they'd never exchanged a word, Walter was captivated, weaving her essence into every note he played. One fateful night, Walter finally resolved to approach her, but she never came back inside. Hours later, her lifeless body was discovered in a nearby alley-violated and left for dead. The news shook him to his core, and the police investigation offered little solace. Witnesses were scarce, and the woman's identity remained shrouded in mystery. Grief-stricken and fueled by a relentless need for justice, Walter delves into the city's dark underbelly, seeking the truth. The trail leads him to seedy clubs, dangerous connections, and secrets buried deep within the jazz world. With each clue, he uncovers a world of betrayal and hidden sins, realizing the woman in the red dress might not have been who she seemed. As Walter edges closer to uncovering the killer, he finds himself entangled in a dangerous game where trust is a rare currency, and every answer brings new questions. Was she a victim, or did her past hold a secret worth killing for? "Lady in Red" is a haunting tale of obsession, deception, and a man willing to sacrifice everything to find justice for a woman he barely knew. But in the end, will the truth set him free, or destroy him?

You're just a little birdie, minding your own business-flying around, dodging falling leaves, trying not to get too involved in the messes of the city below. But, oh, the drama! The masked hero and the brooding villain you've been watching for months-yeah, those two? They have a lot of secrets. The hero's perfect, obviously, saving the world and all that. But the villain? Oh, dear. By day, they wear a mask of evil and power, but you've seen what happens when the cape comes off. There's some serious darkness lurking in their private life-self-loathing, quiet pain, and way too many late-night mood swings. But don't worry, the villain's got it under control... or so they think. You thought their love story was one of those sweet "enemies-to-lovers" kind of deals, until you saw the truth from way up here. It's a mess. Betrayal. Anger. Love. Secret identities. A fight that's way more personal than you ever imagined. But hey, that's not your problem, right? You're just a bird. Except, well... Maybe you care. Maybe you're the one who's been flying around, wondering if their messy, secret love story will ever have a happy ending-or if one of them will end up on the wrong side of the city's skyscraper (literally). From your vantage point, it's a little too close for comfort, but hey-no one ever said love was easy, even for villains and heroes. Just try not to get caught in the crossfire, okay? Glassed Destiny by Saturn_Passion

He finally found the one. The one that he had given up on finding at such an early age, he finally found the person who could complete him. Now he just had to make sure he could keep her safe. He had found her in the worst possible place: right in the middle of a case. "By the way," his partner pulled him out of his thoughts. He surprised him by giving him a mischievous smirk. "That growl? 10/10 in my book. Very spooky. 9/10 on Rotten Tomatoes for Plot and Suspense. Of course, one point was taken away for doing it near humans, a woman, nonetheless. But, other than that, loved it." He had to take a deep breath for that. He stopped walking and glared at the man. "You know," he started. "One of these days you're going to wind up dead because of that mouth." "From you?" "Possibly." "Good," that smirk never left his face. "You have no idea how annoying it is being immortal." "Can't be worse than being friends with one," he rolled his eyes and continued his walk. As much as he was excited to find his love, he couldn't help but be concerned for the woman. She was a gypsy without a past or a family. And it seemed like there was more than just him looking for her. But who was it? And why? Why was she trapped in that glass? Detective Jim Magnar didn't know the answer to that. But he had a feeling that this was just the start to something much grander than a simple call on the police radio. It was a destiny trapped in glass. And now he had to figure out where it was leading him. * A mystery romance with a supernatural twist! Come and join this detective's ragtag group of friends and coworkers as he deciphers who is after the love of his life! Will he be able to win her over? Completed 07/31/23
The Demon of Saint-Eli by riversmelodie
1 part Complete Mature
When a young devout woman seek out his help, the mysterious private investigator Simeon Engels knows that something peculiar is happening behind the masquerade of the town's most powerful man. But he will need to be careful... for justice can very easily be mistaken for bloodlust. The first ever short story of mine to earn a Mature filter (as it typically makes me uncomfortable to write dark and gritty stories), and, another first, one completely outside of the universes of my previous stories. It's completely standalone, with its own mythology and fantasy/realism rules, etc. Which made it even more so liberating, as I no longer needed to stick within an existing continuity in terms of what's possible and what's not. The Demon of Saint-Eli is the introduction (in an hopefully long collection of short stories) of an OC that I have come to love the concept for months: Simeon Engels, the mysterious private investigator that hides a greater secret than anyone could ever guess. At first wishing it to be a Victorian/film noir hybrid, I changed it instead to a steampunk setting, that allowed a greater range of what could be integrated in the story. Overall, I hope you enjoy this story. I hope to make it into a collection of stories revolving around the adventures and character development of Simeon Engels, and I hope that you will find him as interesting as I conceptualize him to be. 9th May 2021: this story is now part of a sale of art for charity. This will remain up for previewing the stories, but upon purchase, will be removed from Wattpad. A world where those with superhuman powers are taught to wield their powers for good and change the world. That is until a villain named Scar enters her life and changes her whole perspective on what it truly means to be the good guy. Scar loves her. And knows she loves him-she just doesn't know that yet herself. But she's about to find out. ~Excerpt~ "Why me?" I asked exasperatedly. "You do all of this for me, and why? For what reason?" "That's where you're still wrong, honey," he said darkly. "I'm not doing this for you. I'm doing this for me. I wanted you, so now you're mine-that's all there is to it. And by being mine, if someone hurts you, they're hurting me. And I am not one to take that disrespect lightly. Do you understand me?" "No." "You will." He knelt next to me, his face hovering over mine, his arms on either side of the machine, caging me beneath his upper body. "I will ruin you-I'll fit you to my mold; I'll take that goody-two-shoes girl you are, and turn her into a force to be reckoned with. One that's mine." I quivered. "All mine." "I..." His proximity had me beyond nervous. My throat constricted as I tried to regain my composure. "Will never be yours." He laughed, his hand caressing my cheek. "You and I both know you already are." *Enemies to lovers (mildly) dark romance* PUBLISHING ALSO ON ROYAL ROAD AS LEELEEACE1

'No, he didn't'. I was so shocked by the turn of events. Everything was going fine and then suddenly boom, everything turned upside down. I just couldn't believe this. What did he think of himself? 'Leave me alone.' I said firmly but his hold on me was so strong. I was struggling to get out of his bear hold but to no avail. 'Oh!! So, the poor lady thinks that I will leave her alone and just let her go free?' He had that evil laugh and boy, his breath stank. 'Man, you just signed your death warrant and I will do one favour on you.' No one messes with me. 'Ooooh, I am so scared that I almost peed my pants.' Again that idiotic laugh. I counted till 5 and then kicked right in his balls. I turned around and grabbed his hair from roots, jerked them so badly and then gave my hard elbow shot on his chin. Everything happened so fast for one moment he was standing and the other lying on floor wiggling. I charged at him with my cheetah speed, picked up a wooden rod and started hitting him wildly, 'You idiotic stinky breath was trying to steal my backpack. You are so dead.' 'Favour, favour, favour.' He was screaming in pain just after few seconds and was panting hard. I picked my paste from my bag and threw at him, 'Brush your teeth.' I was fuming. I turned around and saw him standing wide-eyed, 'Hi, I am Scarlett.' I smiled showing my 32 teeth. 'I am scared.' His look puzzled me.
