As a young man, Lasantha escapes from a brutal patriarchy in Sri Lanka to come to the United States on a full scholarship in order to become a celebrated Broadway star. In the rainy state of Washington, he meets his nemesis, Kyle, and enters into a traumatic relationship.
In a few months, after being callously abandoned by Kyle, Lasantha is diagnosed with a chronic, degenerative, incurable neurological disease.
