When Elijah Graham knocks on Rosa's door, he throws her peaceful existence into turmoil. Because Rosa has just spent a year in a psychiatric hospital, hopelessly trying to rebuild her desire to live.

She's not the only one in her house struggling; Daya can't come out to her strict Sikh family, even when they're trying to arrange her future for her. Kamila is desperate to become a surgeon, but nobody seems to think a Muslim girl has what it takes. And Audrey can't help the wildness in her, particularly when she meets Emilia, Elijah's beautiful but dangerous sister.

For Rosa, she thought the hard part was over. She left the hospital. She survived.
But as her friendship with Elijah grows, so do the challenges ahead.
