Trouble finds the Cullens quite suddenly when Alice's visions go haywire, and Nessie's happily ever after is put on hold when the entire Cullen tribe must band together to defend their right to exist. The Volturi return in a big bad way with new and unexpected allies, and in the blink of an eye the picture perfect world that the Cullens had created for themselves and for their families is threatened.

War is imminent this time around as The Volturi express in no uncertain terms that, this time, their authority will not be undermined. Blood is shed and lives are lost in the battle to end all battles as it is determined, once and for all, whether or not the Cullens will live to see another day.
