In the future, a scout ship, the UCNS Artemis and her small crew are sent to map out new solar systems for humanity to colonize and to make contact with alien life. Until they come across a mysterious distress beacon believed to be from a human vessel. Their investigation leads to catastrophe and now the four man crew must struggle to escape the hostile planet with the help of the crashed ship's lone survivor and the Artemis's unruly Artificial Intelligence that values its survival more than the crews.
If that doesn't sell you, its space marines investigating a distress beacon and shit goes sideways. With inspiration taken from many famous sci fi series including Alien, Star Trek, Halo, Dune, and tons of other tropes. Enjoy.

Yes, yes it is, but it's surprisingly fun and effective. :) We pretty much live for the Inevitable Ascension series and did just about everything ourselves-the writing, the editing, the publishing, the art (well, Andrew did the art, but Sasha provided invaluable consulting when it came to eyebrows), the audio book, the trailer-everything. It stars an orphan tomboy named Kelly Titan, an advanced computer scientist with the brains over brawn to her advantage. She was taken from the streets of Earth at a young age to a mining planet, Quill, to work on a project she never knew the real purpose for. Soon she became a part of a new family and gained a purpose. What she didn't know was that she was working on a next generation overwatch system called Olympus. A system keeping millions of people trapped on Quill, never to return back to Earth. All given the promise of a high reward. Instead, they were all fooled and became slaves under Olympus watching eye. Millions of humans became stranded on the red desert planet, only to extract fuel back to Earth. Kelly will understand that what she helped to created wasn't just a overwatch system, it was the very foundation of which a new kind of slavery was built on. An intergalactic treadmill to drain Earth from the unwanted. Upon deeper discovery, Kelly will find herself in the middle of an alien civil war that the humans have started and funded to keep the fear amongst the colony workers. They have tried sending spaceships into space and leave some of the population up there, but the space crafts required to have humans live there forever is not possible. They have tried making underwater pockets so people can live under the sea, but the underwater pockets are too fragile to maintain and easily every citizen can drown. Hope was almost given up. Until scientists found a planet only couple light years away that is a sister planet to Earth. No one has ever been on this planet before and is unsure what will people find there. So on the year B18, all children born within that year were taken from their families and sent into a spaceship to be trained and prepared for the landing of this new planet. Samantha and her squad are flying through space and preparing themselves both mentally and physically for the adventures of this new planet. No one knows what is going to happen when the spaceship lands on this foreign land.Complete
