Alma Ruiz is a 16-year-old girl, and she's everything but ordinary. Ever since she was born, after The Nuclear War, inexplicable things have been happening from strange birthmarks to a dead dad.
Over the summer a mysterious boy moves into the unit next door and she's never met him until their first day of their Junior year at Commonwealth High, at least that's what she thinks until suspicious events lead her to think otherwise.
They don't hit it off very well with his sudden rude attitude and her need to know what's up. Alma knows he's hiding something and she knows she has something to do with it. All she needs to do is find out what.
She isn't but an entity in the society of dependants.
But she is no longer alone, and she comes to realize that maybe she wasn't alone all along.
